You know my daughter she is now 10 1/2 she had that problem. You have to give him information in a way that he does understand. You do not grasp information like I grasp information and so and so forth. Therefore, you have to ask him questions to better feel for his attention level and to see if he has a problem with paying attention. What did I do? I did what I told you to do, I asked her can she hear me when I am talking? She said yes, therefore if he can hear you then that is just half the battle. I got her glasses because she could not see. That helped somewhat, I even got her some learning materials that will help her in the areas where she is weak. I tell her to ask questions if she does not know. This behavior of not understanding has spilled off into school, she gets into school and she zones out, and all kinds of distracting things. So I had a conference with her teacher and I let her know what I think the problem is, so the teacher told my child to write her questions down on a piece of paper and give it to her. Sometimes the other children can be a distraction as well because they may know something that my child does not and they probably make fun of her and discourages her but after the teacher gave her an outlet she is much better. Look get with your child's teacher and see if the pattern is the same in class and then work from there. He doesn't have to a have learning disability he just doesn't grasp on as quickly as others. Hope this helps!
