It sounds like neither of you are really ready to give it up. If you want to continue, go for it. Don't let others pressure you to stop. Good luck.

Have you tried cutting out feedings. If your son is breast feeding four times a day I wouldn't just cut him off, I would drop one feeding every week. This allows your body to slow down production so you won't become engorged. You may have to distract your son or change up your routine. For instance if he is used to breastfeeding while you're sitting on the couch you probably should avoid that. Try dropping the feeding he is least interested in first so if it's the morning one change your morning routine, instead of feeding him give him a cup of water and take a walk every morning. My daughter is 2 and now only feeds once a day and sometimes not even that, she's self weaning on her own so I never had to experience the pain.

Stay strong mama! Don't give in, he'll eat when he's hungry. Tell him it's "all gone" and give him some milk and real food. He might fuss a bit or even a lot. But he's fine, don't feel bad for him. He won't starve, he'll eat whats available...Breast Milk Cafe is closed so it's not available

Also, you need to wrap your breast swith an ace bandage as this will help with the pain. I've also heard cabbage or lettuce (not sure which) inside the ace bandage will help the milk dry up. When you get engorged, take a shower and express a little milk to take off the edge...not much. The less you express, the sooner it stops coming in. Good Luck!
