My son have seizure disorder, from Generalized Seizure when he was 9 years old, now Rolandic Seizures, he have been taking for 5 years Depakote, and he have been seizure free for two years know. The doctor suggest to take him up slowly from Depakote and start with a new medicine and see if we can get rid of the Rolandic Seizure and get a normal EEG. If nothing change then we know this is a normal for him and we can decide to take of Depakote. Bottom line, we have been praying that this day came to our life were we have the option to take off all medicine from my son, but know that that day arrive we are concern of taking him off the medicine and have the risk of starting again the seizures. But also is the time to take the decision if we can him to be on medicine for the rest of his life???? any advise please!!

Your doctor has recommended a course. If you do not agree with that recommendation, you can always ask for a second opinion.
