Stressed out with a picky eater!

My son is 18 months and is so picky with food! he mostly eats chicken soup and fruit. I've been cooking nonstop for the past month trying different recipes and for a while he loved zucchini fritters but then he got bored with that. I feel myself getting stressed out when he refuses to eat and he can probably pick up on that which doesn't help. It's so hard to not worry and stay calm! Any suggestions and successful recipes?

Agrees totally with Dove. Stop stressing. Make the foods you eat. It there is something he physically can't eat.....too hard to chew and a choking hazard (steak, pork chop) then make something different otherwise just offer what you are eating. It is all part of learning. A food they totally refuse might be their most favorite next month. Sometimes it is just getting use to different tastes or textures that takes time.

Stop trying so hard. Simple foods that are easy to prepare and that you enjoy, so that you aren't out any extra work or wasted food if he doesn't eat it. Some toddlers are not picky, many are... and it's perfectly normal. Just keep offering him a small variety of simple foods at regular intervals and let him be in charge of what he eats and when. Unless there are extenuating circumstances he will not starve himself.

My daughters have a friend that as a 2 year old would literally just lick the syrup off a waffle and be done w/ breakfast. They are all teenagers now and while she IS still a picky eater... she's happy and healthy.
