Stressed over my teen son with anxiety

My 16 year old son is shy, and I know he deals with social anxiety. He likes going to school, though, and seems to enjoy being around his peers for the most part. But I know he struggles. He says he sometimes has a hard time knowing what to say to other kids, and I get the impression that he feels different and knows he's different. He goes to a small high school and all the other teens seem so social and outgoing! Don't know what to do to help him, and I am in almost constant worry over his emotional well-being.

Ask him if he would like you to set up an appointment for him to talk to a counselor that can help him navigate these social situations that he is struggling with... If he says yes, do it. If he says no... just love and support him. Social anxiety sucks, but he's at the point in life where it's really up to him whether or not he WANTS help w/ socialization or not.
