I have twin 3 year-olds, 1 boy and 1 girl. My daughter has gone through a behavior change in the last 3 weeks where she stubbornly refuses to acknowledge me when asked to do something. Over and over I will say something...sometimes, I get louder. Other times, I walk over and ask her to look at me so get her focus, etc. Something I power through but chalk up to toddler development. My son is also unruly in this way thought she brings it to a new level:) However, recently, my daughter had an immediate mood change that concerned me. We had just read a Dr. Seuss book all together laying in my bed and were joking around after about living in a zoo, when her face suddenly saddened and she stared at me with what appeared to be severe fear. She looked across my bedroom and out on the landing, and was so scared. I asked her is she was scared, and what she saw. I encouraged her to share, that she could share anything no matter what. She started welling up and fought to get off my bed and get out of my room to head to her bedroom saying she wanted to go to bed. She NEVER says that. Most nights, she gets out of bed, turns on her light, fiddles around, etc. I cannot explain how scared she seemed and somewhat glazed over staring. I am very concerned and am wondering if anyone else has had this experience and has insight.
The evening closed out, with her starting off cuddled in her bed, and when I checked on her, she asked is she could sleep in her brother's room (which she knew was planned but that I was going to move her after she fell asleep since they usually feed off each other). I said yes as long as they fell asleep and they did right away. Any insight about the sudden mood change?
