Sugar addicted autistic son

I need help because my 11 yr old autistic son is addicted to sugar and no matter how I try to hide it he finds it and eats it straight out the bag or container. He's drank maple syrup which I was unaware of until he collapsed and when we rushed him to the hospital started throwing it up. When we got home the next day I found the syrup bottle in the bathroom closet. I don't buy to many sweets but when I do he tends to look for them and screams and cries because I hide them from him. I buy him his sweets which are all sugar free but that doesn't help. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I would think you just need to stop buying anything like that for a while. Do without it until he gets over his addiction.
