Oh totally get out of the house!! I was really cautious with my first, but then realized that she LOVED to be outside!! If you can find a way to keep him in the shade, that is best. Get a beach tent or even take the pack-n-play and make shade with a blanket. My son is 4 months old, and I have put sun screen on him occassionally. I try to be really careful around his eyes and I don't put it on his hands, since they go staight into his mouth! I haven't done bug spray yet, but I've noticed that babies seem to have an inborn bug repellant (seriously! He hasn't gotten bit yet, even when everyone around him has!). We have gone on picnics, trips to the zoo, to the pool, and to the playground, and he just tags along. He actually seems to be in a better mood after being outside. We're thinking about a beach trip this weekend, so we'll see how that goes!

I went out everyday with my boys, just threw them in the stroller put the sun shade down and that was that. Also I would either go out first thing in the morning , or after 5 pm, I would avoid the worst heat/sun from 12-5ish.

Get a beach tent for your son. There are bug repellants and sun screens you can use occasionaly on an infant. Talk to your pediatrician. I don't remember what we used on our son, but he was a summer baby and I refused to be inside all the time! I know it was one my son's dr. recomended.
