Hi Moms,
I have a 7 year old daughter. For the last couple years we have explored various camps in the neighborhood. She liked some, for the most part she just wanted to hang out at home...and i totally get that..If i look back to my childhood my summers were so much fun ..completely unstructured i had the whole day to myself..hanging out with friends..visiting grandparents and so on...

I am curious to see what you moms think? Also i am keen to know how their interests evolve in terms of summer camp and after school activities as kids grow older..into early teens and so on..

Thanks

It was hard for my kids to become involved in a lot of activities after school or over summer in a camp style setting. They lived in the middle of the country about 20 miles form the larger cities where summer camps were available. Their dad's work schedule was not easy to work around getting them to and from camps. They also had split summer time breaks with me and dad anyhow so I tried to get them when we had VBS going on. We also did some things if I could afford to do them. They developed their interests on their own at home.
