I have been strictly pumping since January and all of a sudden in the last two weeks my supply has decreased to almost nothing. I have some frozen milk to get through about a month but wanted to supplement to make it last longer. My daughter is 9 months old and was wondering what the best supplement would be, is it too early to start putting whole milk with the breast milk??

Hi, my girl will be 8 months on the 28th of April. At about a week of age, she started to only sleep 2 hours at a time and then be hungry again. The clinic sister told me a child's glucose levels goes down in the evenings and breast milk isn't enough. My husband has asma, sinus problems and a few food allergies. A friend recommended Soy Milk. I've tried that at a week of age, and it worked. I still breastfeeded her up to 6 in the evening and then at about 8 gave her an soy milk bottle feeding. It really worked. Since then she's been on soy milk bottlefeeding whenever needed. She left the breastfeeding at 7 months and since then she drinks about 3 - 4 bottles a day (240ml each). She also eats cereal in the morning and purity fruit or veggies twice a day. She doesn't have ANY problems. No diaper problems, skin allergies, food allergies, nothing. I would really recommend it.

If you need to supplement a dairy formula is recommended. Does she have a dairy intolerance? Is she already on soy formula? I agree with another poster that soy is not as healthy as people make it out to be. A drink of soy milk every few days isn't going to hurt in most instances but it shouldn't be given in large amounts like breastmilk or formula.

Have you read any info on soy milk itself .....i don't think that alot of people are educated enough about it....heres some info you might look into to make a better decision.
IS SOY MILK HEALTHY
TOXICITY IN SOY PRODUCTS;
NEW RESEARCH ON WHY TO AVOID SOY;
SOY MILK, RICE MILK, OR ALMOND MILK WHICH IS THE BEST CHOICE?
I know this isnt the answer you were looking for, but I think you might look into it before offering it to your young one.
