HI Everyone,
perhaps this sounds like a small issue however I keep saying to my kids/18next week and 20 that it is not nice to swear all the time. I may not be innocent of ever swearing however they are constantly at it ! I tell them it's not respectful and where is their vocabulary ?
Any other suggestions?
Trying to raise kids or young adults in your house I feel like I have to pick my battles of course

I tolerate an occasional curse, as I curse once in awhile. But to use foul language as part of every conversation? No way! I started when they were young and if they used vulgar language, I made them write down ten to twenty alternative words to replace the curse word. Worked wonders. But I gotta say if mom and dad swear, then the kids will too.

Wait, your "kids" are actually adults? When did you stop enforcing your house rules? Do these adult children at the very least pay their room and board?

Put in a swear jar. Enforce it. Work on growing a new backbone and get those adults out on their own. You were raising them before. Now that they are adults, you are allowing them to take advantage of a free house, maid, cook, and bank.

Have a swear jar that if anyone is the house is caught swearing they have to put money in. If they are like most 18/20 year olds then taking money off them will make them think before swearing.
