How old does my child have to be to switch her to a foward facing car seat?

It depends where you live, so you'd have to check your local laws. I know general recommendations are 2 years now, but where I live it is illegal to put a non certified car seat in a car, but we don't have rearfacing car seats that will cater for a 2 year old, so in that case, I'd go for the largest seat possible and keep them rearfacing until they outgrew it (usually around the age of 1).
