Hi, I have a 16 month old son who I'm having a hard time switching from a milk bottle to a sippy. He has drank from a sippy before but only wants milk in his baba. The problem is he will go all day without drinking any milk if its not in his baba. He eats regular food breakfast lunch and dinner but he is miserable and upset without the bottle. So my question is, how long is too long to make him go without the bottle if he refuses to drink from a sippy? Should I just wait a little longer to take the bottle away or stay firm?

Don't force him; he's probably not ready to give it up yet. Let him enjoy the bottle as long as he needs it.

my daughter is 2 1/2 and drinks everything out of a regular cup EXCEPT her milk. she will only drink it out of a bottle. The dr. says there is nothing wrong with it. Just think many people breastfeed longer, so why is it so wrong for a bottle. Do what's best for your child & in my opinion him getting his milk is most important :-)

My daughter is almost 2 now. What we did us at first we got a sippy cup that looked just like her bottle. (She was using the nuk bottles before and they have a nipple that looks just like a sippy that you can buy.) at first she wasn't thrilled with it, but she saw her babysitters son drinking from the exact same bottle (we did this on purpose) and within a week she was drinking from the new one. I hope this helps!

I just switched my daughter (14 months) last week to all sippy cups. I went out and bought a sippy cup that resemble her bottle. It's called a sports sipper but she really likes it. She was really attached to her bottles too. It's going on a week now and she's doing great. She wouldn't drink her milk out of the normal sippy cup either. Hope that helps?

Push the "big boy" thing...LOL...it always worked with mine.

And, like I said, good luck! Frustrating age this is, but rewarding too...

If he'll drink everything else from a cup, lose the bottle. Literally lose it. That was the easiest way for me.

Actually, it started out innocent enough, we went on a family trip when my youngest was about the same age as yours. I forgot to pack the bottle. Since he was only on a bedtime bottle anyway, I just told him "well, momma forgot it, there's no store for miles, and big boys drink from cups". He never asked for it again.

May work, may not! But good luck!
