Ok here goes, I am trying to write this as clear and concise as possible, I am running on minimal sleep so please bare with me :) My son turned one in october, and since then I have been trying to transition him to whole milk. When he was born he had severe reflux and that was a nightmare finding a formula that he could actually keep down. He still spit up the formula but not as bad when he was using regular similac, similac soy, and even the alumentium (sp?). He would often have little red spots on his body and what looked like eczema patches randomly on his body, especially his cheeks. So since he turned one I tried getting him to drink the whole milk and at first he didn't like it he would throw his bottle of shake his head no. When I actually was able to get him to drink some he either would get constipated OR he would have diarrhea not severely but enough for me to notice a change in his BM's so I stopped trying to give him the whole milk I thought I would attempt to start him on the whole milk again in november so I would soak cheerios in the milk and get him eat those, he seemed to do fine so I started giving him a few ounces of super watered down whole milk and he would do alright but I noticed his burps would smell to high heaven, he was more gassy, and fussy. I stopped giving him the milk and about 2 weeks ago we started to attempt to give him whole milk again. Same thing soaking cheerios in the milk, watered down bottles etc. He seemed to do ok but again smelly burps, gassy & fussy. Well last night he took a nap and woke up and was hungry so I gave him 5oz of whole milk and diluted it with 1oz of water and he drank it fine, but about 1 1/2hrs later he got super fussy and then started throwing up everywhere, in between spells of throwing up though he would play around the living room and then start throwing up again. This went on from around midnight until 5am this morning. I took him to the ER around 3am and the doc told me he definitely sounds lactose intolerant, she gave him a full once over checked his temp (was normal), ears, throat, etc she said everything looks fine except his gums are swollen due to 2 teeth coming in other than that he doesn't seem like he has a flu bug either. My question is would he continue to throw up for that long over being lactose intolerance? He slept until about 2pm today but at 11 he woke up starving so I gave him pedialyte, and again around 1pm. He held it down and a little bit ago I gave him bananas and some unsalted crackers which he seems to be holding down fine. I just wasnt sure if anybody experience this with their LO's the persistent vomiting for hours on end just over being lactose intolerant.
