I just received a letter from csa the case has been open for 14 years my ex husband hasn't paid a penny in last 14 years, when we first seperated he went to his solicitor sent me a letter saying he'd pay £20 a week for our daughter but never did, anyway the csa have never been able to claim any money from him since he has been on benefits all this time, my calculations shows he owes me 14,000 can I claim this in court based on the the letter he sent from his solicitor saying he would pay £20 each week

I was watching that judge rinder and saw a similar case he was made to pay 5,000 as it was maximum she could claim I've seen my solicitor and the legal letter is enough to take him to court, I don't need the money im just angry that men have kids after kids and just walk away

If he agreed to £20 a week and did not follow through, then he should be responsible for payment. If you take him to court for it, you might get lucky and get a little money from him, but I wouldn't hold your breath to get the whole amount of back-pay that you feel he owes you. If you made it this long without the money, and if you think he will still refuse to pay, then it might be more hassle than it's worth to fight him on it. It's up to you.

You might be able to get some money from him, but just because he said he was going to pay you does not mean he has too. If there never was a support order created in court, you might not have much luck.
