My suggestion is to ignore this behavior.. By giving her any reaction you will give her fuel to continue the tantrums.. At 1 1/2 they don't quite have the verbal skills to talk through things, and in my opinion are too young to understand actual Time Outs.. By walking away from her and ignoring her you are doing time out without really giving it a name yet.. Just make sure she is safe and in eye/ear shot distance.. I also recommend the book 1-2-3 Magic.. My son will be 2 in July and when he pitches a fit or doesn't want to come to me when I ask him to, etc.. I tell him "Brandon, Thats' 1; Brandon That's 2; Brandon That's 3" then I take action.. There is no yelling on my part or spanking.. He usually does what is expected of him when I say That's 2.. It is a very simple method and he caught on to my counting to 3 very quickly.. Also try watching the program "The Happiest Toddler on the Block".. It helpes explain why these tantrums occur in the first place.. Good Luck.
