My little one turns a year on Saturday and I need to teach him to soothe himself to sleep. He has always relied on me rocking him to sleep and has always woken up once around 4am for a bottle. He does not need the bottle that is now out of habit so I feel like if I can get him to soothe himself to sleep at night and I work on weaning him from that bottle he will sleep through the night. He goes to day-care every day and at nap time they put him in his crib awake with a sound machine and he goes right to sleep!! I am not opposed to the CIO method but I have not found anything that I think will work!

I would...it would mean a few long nights but worth it in the end. I'm a mum of 6 and that technique always worked or me, it took longer with some of the kids granted!! I found it was always out of habit and not hunger that mine woke!!

He would chug a 6 ounce bottle each night so last night I only gave him 4 ounces and he was not happy so it took me a little longer to get him back to sleep. Would you suggest going cold turkey and just using warm water?

Hi Cynthia, in my experience I found that to replace the milk in de 4am bottle to water can help.
