I am new to this page; I am a mom who has a 16 year old son who has a traumatic brain injury. I live in rural Minnesota and have received absolutely no help for him. We, his dad and I, are really struggling. Since his TBI he has been incarcerated on numerous occasions due to his aggression. He was living in a group home after discharge from hospital, due to his aggression the group home called the cops on him which resulted in 2 assault charges. He has been in and out of different facilities, currently in one for the last 11 months. He has only 60% usage of the left side of his body, and is very immature for his age. I am just looking for someone who may have dealt with the same, or similar situations.

Proper mental health programs/insurance seems to be very inadequate in this country, and it's very sad that these people suffer. I wish I had good advice to offer, but I really don't. I feel for you and hope that you find resources to het him the help he needs.

It is a result of his injury. He has a frontal lobe injury. So a lot of his problems are with impulsivity, executive functioning, socialization, etc.

Does the doctor feel his aggression is a result of the brain injury? Or is it that he's upset over his circumstances and doesn't know how to express himself?
