I was thinking about what other Mom's said about teenage depression and anxiety. I don't think other parents can really understand how difficult it is to live with a loved one that is severely depressed and anxious. Are there other Mom's on this site that struggle with this. I have a daughter age 17 that I do not want to become dependent on me and I worry she will not be ready to move out of the house. Sometimes, I think I should treat her depression like cancer, and take care of her. Other days I think she should step up and be able to clean her room, do her laundry etc. She also has ADHD. She has been on medication for a year and has been to counseling for various issues since she was 12 years old. This is the worse she has been, really compounded by her Dad's death a year ago. I also have a 15 year old, whom is not depressed, a 4.0 student and athlete, so it is hard not to compare.
I don't need advise but some tips other Mom's and Dad's have tried, a new perspective.
