If he uses a pacifier, try holding it under water, press it together,it should suck water in. Then place it in the freezer to freeze. When its frozen take it out and just place it under running cold water for 2seconds. Then he can suck/bite/chew on it. Another great thing we had, i cant remember the name though, was a special net where you can put pieces of frozen fruit like apple into it. It has a special holder so the child can hold it and bite into the net with the fruit in it..the net doesnt break and theres no way that the baby can choke on pieces of fruit. Teething rings are good aswell.
I would give him some teething gel and some pain medicine..i am not such a fan of homeopathic medicine, but a friend suggested me to try Vibrucol suppositries, and i was quite amazed that they did work. My son had less pain and i felt better giving him some natural med instead of the heavier stuff. But i did occasionaly give him Dafalgan(paracetamol) when he had bad pain or was getting fever from the teething.
If i can find the name of that fruit "sucker" thing i will send it to you! I will try find it on the internet now.

You can give him a dose of Tylenol that is appropriate for his age and weight. You can also give him a cooled teething ring that would help him to numb his gums or even some baby strength oragel. If he is old enough you could allow him, with your help to suck on a freezie pop or popcicle.
