Thank you for having me in the circle of Moms. I am currently going through a very rough patch. I have been divorced for the past 7 years and raising my two children alone. The first on almost 20 now is in college and the last on 16 is in boarding school. I am working as a skills development practitioner in a foreign country and my kids are in my home country. I am seeking advice and guidance on how to make ends meet because my pittance salary is no longer enough to see my kids through school and provide for their other needs. I am so frustrated and sometimes I feel so depressed that I wonder if I will see tomorrow. I have no other family to ask for help.

Thank you. I will check again as previously I couldn't get any leads.

Back home (Zimbabwe) things are not like everywhere else. Here in South Africa the programs are for South African citizens. My son did not manage to get any scholarship or bursary because he only managed to get 8 points on his A'Levels. My daughter is attending a government boarding school and is doing form 3.

Hi Ruth, I'm sorry but I don't have any answers for you, wish I did. Are there any resources you could reach out to who are qualified to help you with some options as well as emotional support? I really sympathize with you and feel free to write any time. Good Luck!

Your daughter and son may need to see if they can get grants, or apply for financial aid. Call the schools yourself and see what kind of assistance they offer.

Are there government programs that you can look into in your area?
