My son has 2 felony convictions for THC. Has gone through treatment centers. Was sentenced to jail for a year, served that, was let out on parole for 2 years. Three weeks after being out of jail he was arrested for theft which is a felony charge. He was on the Huber program during his year in jail and earned $5,000.00 dollars. He blew all the money during his three weeks of freedom. My husband is a clergy and we live very modestly. We cannot afford an attorney and I feel guilty. I know it is his problem, he finally admitted he is a drug addict and needs help. I am tired of of everything he has put our family through, but I still love him. I am looking for help how I can express my disgust and love when I write a letter to him. I appreciate any suggestions and help.
Thank you.

It is ok to be honest with your kid.

It is OK to tell him "Son, I LOVE YOU and I always will, but I do NOT LIKE the person that you have become. I am glad that you recognize that this person is not who you wish to be, and I am proud of you for taking steps to remedy the situation.

You are, and always will be my son, and I love you."
