This kid never says NO to me ...

So this seems silly, but I've got a kid (I babysit him, have since 6 months old) that never tells me no. He's 3 and potty training. He's ready, no worries there.

My problem is he will say "yeah" to EVERYTHING!! Here's an idea of our recent conversation ...

Me: Do you need to go potty?

Him: Yeah

Me: Did you go?

Him: Yeah

Me: Are your undies wet?

Him: Yeah

Me: Feel them, are they wet?

Him: Yeah

They were in fact, dry!

Me: Do you need to take a nap?

Him: Yeah

Me: Should we stand in the corner?

Him: Yeah

Me: Are you hungry?

Him: Yeah

Me: Are you full?

Him: Yeah

This conversation went pretty fast, we didn't stop and do these things. I just asked him a question, he answered and I moved to the next one. Since he has no problem telling Mama no, her only answer is "Weird" and that's that. Helpful. I've even mentioned to him that it's ok to tell me NO, and I get "Ok". I've changed the way I ask to "Yes or no ..." and get "Yeah no" or "Yeah"

HELP PLEASE!!!

I think that's about right Amy. I reworded my questions so he has to answer without yes or no, and he did better! I even asked him a couple different ways a couple different times and got the same side response (he didn't switch it up and answer the last option).

He's 3 so he probably just doesn't feel comfortable showing you his worst, unlike his mom who he is comfortable with! My kids are very good for their care givers and teachers, when I talk to my sons teacher about his behavior at home she is somewhat shocked. It's not that he's terrible but he definitely is more comfortable having his meltdowns with his father and I then someone else including his grandparents.

He very freely says NO to his Mama. Just not to me. And I'm not sure if I did/said something that he won't say no to me. The longest sentence I've gotten from him is "Yeah no".

I say word your questions longer so he has to give you a sentence answer. Otherwise I have no clue, my kids always knew the word no and used it very freely lol
