What did you all call your pacifier? I realize this a a tangent but I doesn't seem worthy of a new thread. I grew up calling it "Yucky" as my dad tried to say "you don't need that yucky thing" I said "I do need my yucky" When I became a mother, my sister and I revisited that story and renamed our dear "Yucky" as "Yummy"!

I agree with Sarah, 2 out of my 3 had them until around 2.5/3. With my son we just lost the last one but with my daughter we gave them to the Dummy Fairy one night. The fairy took them so babies who actually needed them could have them.
Be careful that she doesn't use her thumb, that's a harder habit to break, you can't cut her thumb off.

The AAP approves of pacifier use up to two years old. Why did you feel so rushed to get rid of it? My son was hooked on his, man did he love that pacifier. When he'd put in in his mouth you could see him relax, so I let it be. At around 3, we "lost" the last one. At three he had an understanding of lost, so he did not beg for it. She may start sucking her thumb for relief. Are you nursing? You could nurse her for comfort. In a few days she will be fine.
