Thumb sucker...needs to stop!

I am a mother of 5, with our daughter being hte oldest, then 3 sons, and our little princess is last. Our baby turned 2 recently. She is the only one of our kids to be a thumb sucker, and has done this since she was an infant. We know that she needs to break the habit, but aren't sure how to help her. Any suggestions?

She is still rather young to be worrying about breaking the habit, but good luck! My niece just recently stopped sucking her thumb during the day (still does it in her sleep) and she is 6.

I'm with u on this one...My son is about to turn 1 next month and is a thumbsucker himself...Idk how n the world I'm gnna break him from it considering I seen how my parents struggled with the same situation with my younger sister...They tried everything they were told: vinegar, hotsauce, socks/mittens, etc. and nothing seemed to work...She still sucks her thumb n her sleep and she's goin on 22, engaged, and with a kid of her own...My mother-n-law also informed me that she was a thumbsucker and her parents even tried shoe polish and didnt work for her and willingly confessed that she prolly still sucks her thumb n her sleep...Hearing all this worries me but hopefully SOMEONE has an answer for us both lol

I don't know alot of things to stop her doing it. But definately wouldn't draw attentions to it. She may stop when she is ready. Keeping her hands busy might help atleast she'll do it less.
