Shauna,that's what i'm worried about----his teeth!!I can't imagine him in braces.

Sharon, i tried putting plaster and cloth around his finger but he'll fight to remove it till he wins.

Arian, since he was a lil baby,he didnt like pacifier(s) at all.I have tried different brands but still he will push it or my hand away. He'll rather grab mi t-shirt and put it in his mouth with his thumb when i try to give him a pacifier....

Our son has sucked his thumb since he was 4 months old and still does it at almost 25 months, but has slowly decreased the amount of time he'll do it. Most kids will stop by age 3, so give him time. There has been no evidence that it affects them in any way, even their teeth, so don't worry too much about it.

I know some people don't like these but you could get him a pacifier. If he doesn't take to it at first you could put jam on it or something.

The reason I would give him a pacifier is that eventually, once he's used to it, you can slowly start weening him off, whereas his thumb is always there. So if you get him using a pacifier then when he's two you can start saying you can't have pacifiers outside, then a couple months later, you can only have it at certain times or if he's really upset (like morning time, before bed etc.) until eventually he's just getting it at naptime and eventually none at nap time.

Like I said, you can ween a child off of a pacifier but their thumb is always there. They'll suck on it without even thinking about it.

You can paint his thumb with some anti nail biting solution if you want to stop him. But there is no guarantee it will work.
