My 3 year old son won't stop sucking his thumb, I've tried the thum medicine that is bitter tasting you can buy from the store to stop you from sucking your thumb, he liked the taste of it... I've tried hot sauce he made a face but continued to suck his thumb, I've tried showing him pictures of what thumb sucking can do to your teeth, I've tried showing him his things and how flat and pruny they look compared to the other fingers after sucking on them, I've even tried sticking jalapeño peppers on his thumbs it doesn't fase him. Anyone have any ideas to get him to stop sucking his thumb?

Send the message to him in many ways. Keep trying dear. I know it hurts to see him do it but be patient. One day you'll tell the story. Don't be harsh. Just use as many ways as possible sometimes even with a smile.

lol lol lol Well, you ARE entertaining... I'll give you that. Full of crap, but certainly entertaining. I needed that laugh, so thank you.

There is no hate speech... no misrepresentation... and no personal attack. It's in the wording.... I'm saying I DIDN'T call you that...

Oh and just to preempt you... the way I worded that 'sick and twisted' comment... is ALSO not a violation of thumps. ;)

You can't read tone on a message board, so yeah... that actually is 'whining' about NOTHING. There isn't anything in the world wrong w/ being blunt and to the point. At least I didn't call you a sick and twisted person for trying to torture your son to get him to quit doing something w/ HIS body... ;)

I referred to the rude tone in the first sentence you wrote dove. I wasn't whining about it, I also thanked you for the actual advice. I didn't have a problem with the advice, just the tone at which you wrote it. Thats all sweetie. God bless!

Sweetie... I've been on this board for years and not a word of what I said violated anything...

I GAVE you advice... good advice... don't go whining to me about 'thumps' just because you didn't get the answer you want... we have a word about people like that around here.... lol

He's only 3... leave him alone. If his thumb is in him mouth during the day... find an activity the two of you can do together that will use both of his hands, but DON'T mention the thumb in his mouth.... the more you draw attention to it the more likely he will be to do it.
