Tips on getting pregnant again

Kirsty - posted on 11/26/2009 ( 15 moms have responded )

I would really like to hear of some tips on getting pregnant. We have been trying for over a year now and nothing is happening. My son is turning 3 in December and I didnt want such an age gap.

Thank you with the responses. my difficulty is that my periods are irregular! They range from 21 days to 31 days! and its only started doing this in the last 4 months!

So far I have gone past 21days and Im on day 25 (no period so far!)

I tried an ovulation kit and because of the irregular periods, I never once saw a positive sign that I was ovulating! Im not stressed just confused as to why my body has decided that it wants to make it hard!

Hi, you can buy ovulation kits from the chemist, and also there are vitamins and stuff you can take. But if you've been trying for over a year I'd just get everything all checked out with the doc. (My husband and I have been trying for about 5 months now, so if you find something that works let me know!!)

try spending time as a relaxed about trying to get pregnant...have a bath together, give each other a massage and have fun....getting stressed out will not help. the body is a funny thing...when you are most happy, calm and relaxed it will happen quicker. it did for me x

Are you just randomly having sex hoping to get pregnant? or do you know when you are fertile? You will ovulate around 14 days AFTER the FIRST day of your LAST period!! As someone stated below you should get a real thick egg white discharge, from first sight of that, you should be fertile for 48 hours. Also after sex, lay with bottom UP in the air, so that you don't leak out ( some will anyway) But don't be running to the potty very fast. If none of that works, I would consult your doctors, sometimes after the first baby it can be harder to get pregnant.

And go back to bumping uglies like teenagers ;)

They have test out there that can tell you when your fertal.
Maybe just stop trying. When you least expect you can get pregnant. I tried hard with my second child, and when I decided I could wait for another child, I got pregnant.
By having sex, and thinking this could be it, I could be pregnant tomarrow, you are putting alot of stress and you and your husband. Stop trying so hard, and just have fun sex. Maybe even have a couple glasses of wine. Forget your trying, and just do it.

Get the book "taking charge of you fertility" by toni weshlier-i think i spelt her last name wrong... the website is

I read it and was pregnant right after reading it. I found it took my mind off of trying so much. I also lent the book to 3 women who also got pregnant right after. One resulted in misscarriage. I was told i would never get pregnant and i found a lot of info in it to be great be it reading it for forms of birth control or to get pregnant. I now know what to look for to not get pregnant without using any BC as well.

Good lcuk!

I agree with reading the book "taking charge of your fertility" and also taking your basal body temperature to determine when you are ovulating. The book will give you specific instructions about taking your basal body temperature and how to track it. It worked for me after trying for about a year and a half, and I also did not have regular, predictable cycles. I also used a lubricant called pre-seed, did not take advil other than when I was on my period, and took a B6 and B12 vitamin to help regulate my cycles, because I could have cycles all over the place as well. As you will see in the "Taking charge of your fertility" book, there are women who do not consistently ovulate each month. That was helpful for me to know. I wish you all the best for getting pregnant!

I was told about this natural fertility enhancement. I have been taking it for several months now and my periods have been EXACTLY 28 days apart (they were sporadic like yours), no pms, no headaches, no pain. It is NOT a hormone, it is a root (like ginger) the difference is that is works with all of your endocrine, adrenals, pituitary glands, thyroid, etc. and helps regulate hormones - which as we all know supports the entire body. The bonus for someone like us is it overhauls the reproductive system and increases your fertility (naturally). This product is good for men as well! Do not buy it at this site though, buy it here ( OR somewhere less expensive. Be sure you get GUARANTEED potency (Solaray is a VERY good product). You may also want to do a body detox. You can get that at any health food store or check this one out
True you can get an ovulation test at the dollar store (they work just as good as the $10 ones! - no joke! Also the pregnancy tests work better than 1st Response). I have been able to tell that I was pregnant 3 and 4 days before my missed period.
I have miscarried three times now. My daughter just turned 3, so the spread is what it is. I am discontinuing the detox and the Maca in two more weeks. I'll let you know how it worked for me...
Prayers and God be with you!

this may sound soooo gross, but do you get an egg white discharge? Have sex the minute you see this if you do get this. worked for me after 8 months of trying.

go to the gyn and get scrapped........that might sound bad, or gross......but it works. I did it two times before concieving, and there she was. Early morning wake-ups, you marinate at night. dont bang......slow and deep, then have him release slow and deep.

.dont make baby making a chore it can become stressful
.try not to stress about things in general
.dont just have sex on time of ovulation research shows men who have intercourse more often have stronger healthier sperm
.eat healthy and stay active

I agree with Michelle. If there is stress in your life or you are to fixed on it, it won't happen. The body releases toxins when you are stressed. I won't tell you not to think about it because I know exactly what you are going through. I have to take fertility medical and injections so there is no way that I CANT think about it. Just try to get some time to youself during that time so you can de-stress away from a rowdy3 year old and spend some time together just relaxing and remembering what it used to be like when you first started out together!

I charted my BBT (Basal Body Temp) every morning at 7 am before anything getting out of bed etc... and charted it it was amazing how my temps and patterns would go and on the third month my temp went up and stayed up and kept going higher and higher and i was pregnant it was neat to be able to see it on the chart we plan on doing that again in about a year as we have a 5 year old and a 7 month old now we lost a baby in the middle- but charting works for me i wish you the best of luck in trying
