A sign that your child is ready to be trained is a dry diaper in the mornings. After I noticed a dry diaper I worked on it right away and within a couple of weeks, my son was trained!! I found that the only thing that worked was to let him run around naked. Pull ups and underware did not work for us, he was comfortable going potty in them, but would NOT if he was naked. Lot of praise when he used the big boy potty and stickers did the job in no time!!! Good luck!!

Well if you are truly ready get rid of the diapers 100% and use them for bedtime only and put him in underwear 100% of the time no matter how many accidents he has.
Then you need to place him on the potty every 20mins for 1-5mins or until something happens. You may have to to be stern with him on this one as it seems like he has a mind of his own.

seems like a reasonable age, but don't worry if it doesn't happen for a while. I don't know your son (or you) personally so I couldn't tell you if he was truly ready or if it was just a will power issue- you're the mom. We do small rewards- like I said, M&M's- but maybe something else would work for your son? Stickers, little toy dinosaurs, etc?

I hear you! We're working on this right now. We went to the store and he picked out a bag of M&M's- he gets one if he pees, two if he poops.
How old is your son? He may not be ready, even if you really really are! Good luck!
