I was shocked when I actually read and looked up the chemicals in the cleaning products that I use in my home everyday. Thankfully I found another solution that is a lot safer and actually cleans better :) So there is another alternative. Feel good about what you use in your home

No one needs to use those chemicals. It all ends up in the water ways, soil and in the oceans. Oh and our bodies.

bicarb and vinegar, borax, tea tree oil are natural cleaners, you can find heaps of recipes and tips online.

i isu lemon juice to clean my kitchen bin,i soak it in a mixture of washing up liquid and lemon juice,it gets rid of all nasty smells and to clean my windows i use washing up liquid and vinegar,it brings them up sparkling clean, vinegar is also good for washing floors too as it removes all grease and its a natural anti bacterial agent aswell, dont worry once the floor is dry the smell goes as it evaporates,i never use polish,i damp dust instead as that is the only way to kill dust mites as they cant survive on a damp cloth,it's also a good tip if there are asthamtics in the house too.

Absolutely, its amazing how many people are not aware of the chemicals in all our potions and lotions.. shampoo and lipstick have been found to cause all manner of disturbing diseases. There are lots of natural alternatives out there, I have recently switched to Aveda shampoo and loving it. Also Melaleuca and others have natural products for cleaning that use tea tree oil, citric acid (lemon) and thyme amongst other things.

Vinegar is the best secret! It kills fungus, disinfects, and leaves things spotless! And if baby licks something after I cleaned, no big deal! I had a mold on my garage door, and I sprayed it with vinegar. It killed it with no hesitation! Also, you can use it to clean your fruit and vegetables. Mix 10 parts water with one part vinegar, and soak it a few minutes. You can rinse if you choose, it doesn't matter, you won't taste the vinegar. If you did this too your berries when you first buy them, they would last longer! Best product going!

I use green cleaning products from Ardyss International, www.ardyssnow.info. They are very good; I have a 4 year old boy (Amaury) with Nephrotic Syndrome, it protects him with no fumes, strong odors and they are concentrated so they last long. Best wishes and many blessings, Ada.

try using a solution of vinegar and water, its great for cleaning windows as well as leaves them smear free - wipe with old scrunched up newspapers to finish , lemon juice is good for stainless steel I was told but not tried that one.

I use vinegar and borax.

Lori, funny you should mention vinegar to wash fruit and veg. I remember back in the early 90s there was a big to do about Alar on apples. I started using vinegar from then on. It's amasing all the rubbish that comes off our food!

I used Aveda back in the late 80's - early 90's. It worked great on my hair and scalp then the company did something different. Added ingredients that wasn't natural. I have been using Simply Organic. It's for hair and scalp. Very nice. Still looking for cleaning supplies to clean my house though. Vinegar works great on windows but can't stand the smell throughout the house. Smells like one big pickle. What should I use on granite, wood, leather, oven, stainless steel and etc.,???

While I should probably stick to vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, it is hard to adjust. I use method products. They smell great and clean well. They have a variety of products including hand wash, dish soap, and a variety of cleaners. They are not any more expensive than the other brands either. They are on facebook and the internet as well as their products are in Target, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and some Safeway stores. Happy cleaning!

Check out Debra Lynn Dadd's websites, too. She's been a pioneer in learning to live toxin-free. There are always good tips on her site. She has a newsletter and books as well.

I use vinegar...I am always interested in finding other things to use, cause my husband hates when I use vinegar! I'm not ok with all the chemicals...I do my best to recycle too! My husband always tells me the house smells like a douchebag when I use vinegar...lol. I've heard about lemon...the acid makes it a good disinfectant. I'm going to check out the sites that Kylie suggested!

Yes, I heard Melaluca is pretty good as well but you have to buy so much of it and it's a big hassle just to get it. Does anyone know of a product that's easier to get that is as safe?

Two people in my family are battling cancer right now. For both the doctors have said about 90% of the cancers we see are related to poor diet and toxins in our air, food, and water.

I'm also tired of chemicals. I've heard vinegar and hydrogen peroxide will clean pretty much anything. What do you use?

I don't use any chemicals in my home either. All natural is the way to go. We are already over-exposed to toxins. Why bother making it worse.
