Toddler irrational fear of fuzz.

[deleted account] ( 2 moms have responded )

My 21 month old has recently developed an irrational fear of fuzz (from her socks) in the bath tub. She will cry hysterically when we put her in the bath and will not sit down. I try showing her what it is and explaining that it's nothing to be afraid of. Does anyone else have experience with this or ideas on how to move past it?

I guess I was looking for something a little more encouraging. I of course already check her feet for fuzzy's before putting her in. She doesn't even want to get in the bath because of the fear and then if there happens to be a fleck of something in the water she is beside herself. Please only encouraging advice.

There is absolutely NO rationalizing with a child that age. Before you put her in the bath, check her feet for sock fuzz and remove it. Just make it easier for all of you and deal with it before she freaks out.
