I have a 2 year old girl who won't stay asleep at night. She did during the spring/summer of 2014. And now all the sudden she is waking up and screaming .I know for a fact she talks in her sleep, dreams (usually wakes up screaming - she climbs out of her crib and comes downstairs) and twitches bad in her sleep. She only naps once a day maybe for 1-2 hours. Any ideas of what I can do I work till midnight and come home and she wakes up every night now and I am so exhausted!! (she also fights going to sleep for over 2-3 hours when she wakes up in the middle of the night and also just going to bed she fights it the same way)

Unfortunally there is not enough room in our bedroom (its very small - so small only a full-size bed fits in it) for her. I live with my fiancee, who is sometimes helpful maybe 1-2 times a week but other than that I am the one up with her constantly. But he works 1st shift. And I also have a 7 year old daughter, which is very hard when she is home on break cause she is up by 630am because of Christmas Break right now and when she goes to school I am up getting her on the bus.

She does come down and goes back to sleep on the couch with me (co-sleeping). Or I she falls asleep there and I sleep on the recliner or loveseat.

It is quite normal for children to start having some nightmares at this age. Firstly, your daughter should not still be sleeping in a crib if she is climbing out. This is a risk to her physical safety. Time to get her a bed.

On the not sleeping at night, it is highly probably she doesn't want to go back to bed alone. My daughter was very similar (although a little older). I ended up using her cot mattress on the floor next to my bed and I added a couple of blankets and a pillow for her. She would come into our room and curl up beside me, holding my hand, and fall asleep, but I was also able to get my sleep. Another thing we did, if we had to, was my husband would get up and sleep in the spare bed while my daughter cuddled up to me.

This phase did pass eventually, but sometimes you have to come up with solutions so that everyone gets their rest.
