My toddler is 21 months old and has a speech delay. He is so smart its scary, hes good with running and jumping and he loves to be held by me. But he does not do well with other children, has severe melt downs when things are not his way or if hes doing something and he has to stop. He gets nervous around other kids and pinches himself. He bites himself and his sister or anyone else for that matter when upset. He also pinches and punches himself and others when upset. Does not like to be touched when nervous. I took him for a hearing test because he just dazes off and stares into space and he really does not hear anything around him. His hearing is perfect . So they suggested a speech eval. She said that my son has red flags and needs to see a developmental doctor. The doctor has a six month waiting list. So it will be a long wait to see what they say. Just wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this and if my sons story sounds familiar and what the outcome was. I know I need to wait for the doctor im not looking for a diagnosis. I just want other moms experiences on this subject.
