First - I am his Grandmother w custody. Grandson w custody. He hadn't asked me to the party and I received nothing from his teacher or school. When asked this morning he said he didn't want me to come to the party. He said there is Awards. I asked (sadly) don't you think I'd like to see that. He replied with, "That way it will be a surprise ". I know they get that way. But wondering if should go anyway.

How'd it go, Rose? Were you "surprised"?

He wants to surprise you by bringing home his award to you. Kids take great joy in being able to "surprise" their parents/caregivers. If you go, don't let him see you, or he'll be disappointed that you won't be "surprised" when he shows you.
