tongue laceration

My son had a fall yesterday, knocked his chin and bit his tongue. He bit down really hard and now has a nasty laceration in the middle of his tongue.

We have been to the doctor and he was given antibiotics. I am rinsing his mouth out with salt water after every meal and making sure it is clean. They couldn't tell me how long it should take to heal so I was just wondering has anyone elses kids done this and how long did it take to heal?????

My son in the last couple of months has hurt his mouth pretty bad the first time he split his lip between the lip and gum, he was fine but when i took a good look at it the hole was quite large, anyways the doc at emergence just said keep it clean it will heal itself and it did in about a week, maybe slightly older. the second time he fell with a pipe in his mouth that he was using as a didgeridoo, it cut all the roof of his mouth and that too healed very quickly. I know my son didn't do his tongue so healing times may vary but his mouth did heal quite quick.

I can't give you specifics, but the tongue heals very quickly. You seem to have the situation under control and are watching for anything irregular. I'd say shake the google tree to find out more details.
