Can my daughter have an allergy causing tonsillitis?
Dr's want to remove her tonsils. Any advice?

Maybe. Allergies can cause swollen tonsils sometimes, but usually in conjunction with other allergy symptoms. Does your daughter have confirmed allergies?

I'm under the impression that tonsillectomies aren't nearly as common as they used to be because they weren't found to be hugely helpful... but they are still done because they can help in certain cases.

Have you talked to your doctor why he/she thinks your daughter is a good candidate for having her tonsils out?
