Hi!

My daughter is going to be 15 in october and she and this 19 year old have flirted with each other for a long time. I know the boy very well, he is a nice, respectful, smart young man. He recently expressed his feelings more obviously towards my daughter and she has always liked him but she couldn't do anything. He is going to be a sophomore in college near where we live and she is going to be a freshman in high school. I know now it's obviously too early for them to date...but they really really like each other and it's killing my daughter not being able to be with him. What age do you guys think is the earliest they can date?

In the US, 19 is adult, 14 is minor, and not even age of consent...Not a good idea for them to be together at all, legally. Legally, she needs to be at least age of consent in your state, if not 18, just to be safe.
If he's as respectful and upstanding as you say he is, he won't have a problem waiting for another 3 1/2 years until it can be a legal relationship.

Also the fact that they have been flirting for a 'long time' is quite concerning as he's been an adult for at least a full year now.... meaning when your daughter was only 13 (at least.. if not younger). THAT is creepy and completely inappropriate.

With that big of an age difference? When she is 18. She is FOURTEEN!!! Too young to be dating anyone and certainly far too young to be dating an adult. If he is a nice and respectable young man he will wait until she is 18... otherwise he's just a creep that you need to keep your daughter away from completely.
