Ok, so my 15 year old son just lost all of his privileges. No more computer, no more xbox, and by the way, not paying for drivers ed because he is failing most of his classes. He has turned into this completely reclusive child who has no friends and barely leaves his bedroom. The video gaming is an issue. It's like a drug for him. He self medicates with them. So taking them away from him is the only thing I can think of. He has hit rock bottom and I don't know what to do. Tonight, after I told him he was losing his privileges, I tried to get him to come eat dinner with us. He got pissed at me and threw his remote into the wall an shattered it into a million pieces. Then he just started sobbing. Still, he will not talk to me except to tell me his problem is me. Apparently, I am the reason he has not turned in any of his homework and is failing his tests. I mean, it's not like I have been on his butt every day since school started to stay on top of it. Is your homework done? Do you have any tests? What do you need to do to study? I always get the same answers from him. Yeah, I did it and oh, I already studied for that. He is 15. Should I seriously have to constantly watch everything he is doing? He does not seem to have any friends and i have tried to put him in every program that is available without spending a thousand bucks. What do I do? Totally lost.

Video games can be just as addictive as drugs, and therfore just as hard to stop. He could be having problems at school or maybe depressed. He is lashing out at you because you are a safe target.I would go and talk to his Dr. and/or look up beyond blue or that sort of website and see if his behavour fits.

Good luck and stay strong.
