Tourette's with "dreaminess"

My 11 yr old son has Tourette's. One of his first symptoms - before any tics, starting at age 8, is something he describes as dreaminess. During times of high excitement - good or bad - he feels like he's not really there or observing from a dreamlike state. It's very disturbing to him, and he can't function during these episodes. Does anyone have any experience with this advice on how to help? Thx!

Hi Ellen, wow that's a difficult one. I surpose because he is not in control of the tics he probably does feel like its not actually him doing those things, therefore he probably does feel a bit like he's dreaming. Interesting and very complex Syndrome. My grandson is nearly nine and he does tell us, "sorry, it's his Tourettes " but I don't think he could explain it in the way your son does and I can see how this must be distressing for him.
Maybe it does give you a strange out of body experience, never to underestimate the power of the mind ! There is new technology all the time and still finding out about parts of the brain.
Be good to get his brain activity monitored (Like they do with sleep paralysis etc).
I wonder like you, if anyone else has come across this.
Peace luv n light
☺☺☺

Thank you, Stacey. I asked my son's dr about Pandas when he was first diagnosed. Dr. is confident he doesn't have it.

I don't have experience with this, but just wanted to ask if you have had him checked for Pandas? My son was diagnosed with pandas and tourettes is a symptom.
