Nurse him or give him a bottle when the plane goes up and down. (don't wake him up if he's sleeping) The constant swallowing will help relieve the pressure on his ears.

Other than the ear thing, I can't think of a better time to take a baby on a plane - hopefully he'll sleep the whole way and there won't be a problem!

I took my son to Mexico (I'm in Canada) when he was 6 months old. I had a bit of a hard time breaking the feeding schedule and habits, but really, you don't want a baby with hurting ears. It went very well for us. Hopefully you guys will have a great trip!
