We booked a trip to Cuba and just found out I'm pregnant. I was wondering what the thoughts are around flying and insect repellent? I will be 5 weeks or so.

This is our first so any advice would help. Thanks!!!!

I never heard anything about it being unsafe in your 1st trimester. In your last they recommend you do not fly. Your obgyn would know best,

i would recommend getting those motion sickness wrist bands from the pharmacy (they would for motion sickness and morning sickness worked great for me) they will help u if u are on a boat or plane or maybe if morning sickness kicks in. best wishes :)

No clue on the insect repellent.

I wouldn't fly while pregnant. I know many people that do/have w/ no issue, but it's not something I'm comfortable w/ doing.

I know when I traveled during my pregnancy I was just beginning my second trimester my doctor gave me medical documents to carry with me as a just in case. You are so early though I don't know if your doctor will do that.

Like Marina said be sure to walk around frequently on the plane to stretch out your legs and prevent blood clots and your ankles swelling.

Just make sure you are doing leg stretches in your seat to help circulation. And get up when you can just to move around, once again for circulation. Ask your doctor for any other medical concerns.

Ask your doctor about the insect repellent. Not really sure if that would be a big deal unless you are in closed quarters breathing in a lot of it. As far as travelling and flying that early in your pregnancy, as long as you don't have any other medical problems, it should be fine. You are suppose to not fly in your last trimester.
