My 7 year old has been going to sleep very late during the summer...10 or 10:30pm. We get her to bed by 9pm, but she just can't fall asleep. This past week we got her up earlier than usual because of a 5 day camp...7:45am. But, it still does not matter. She just lies in bed and then whines that she can't fall asleep. Is this just a summer thing I wonder? Anyone else having problems with this? She barely gets 9 1/2 hrs of sleep a night.

Thanks Vanessa. I'll try the sleepytime tea. Camomile tea or any other good ones you can think of? Regarding the melatonin, I thought of this, but I'm reluctant to try this as I was advised by a doctor not to rely upon this. I'll ask about it again though. Thank you for your reply. =)

Look into melatonin - it'll naturally help her biorhythms fall into place.
Also a natural sleepytime tea about half an hour before bed - or she can drink it in bed with a book while she reads from 8:00 - 8:30 before lights out at 8:30pm.
At her age she needs to learn to calm her body down - if she goes to bed too late, she gets a second wind and then can't calm herself.
