I have a 15 month old who is still on jarred baby foods and hardly touches table foods. He like things like frosted flakes, fruit loops, pop tart crisps and watermelon but does not take in a high quantity of things. I have also noticed he is starting to pull away from wanting the baby foods and also wants to spoon feed himself. Its a mess! Any suggestions??? Our situation is actually a lot more complicated, and I really need to get him to transition to higher calorie table foods. Can anyone help?

I have tried EVERYTHING. I have a speech therapist coming to work with him as well. He has a trach and has done AMAZING with everything...especially the lone fact that he actually eats orally! I have at the table with us at every meal time, and I always offer what we are having. He wants nothing to do with mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes or bananas, but he will eat them out of the jar. It has to be a texture thing, it just floors me. He ate grapes for a while and now won't. He does feed him self frequently with crackers, cereals things like that. The messy we do have some issues with because of the trach, but are actually pretty flexible and make it work. I am already doing everything the ST suggests, so I am just at a loss at what to do.

do you have him eat when you are eating? let him feed himself... it may be messy, but at least he'll eat... try things like vienna sausages... and cut grapes up in SMALL peices... mashed potatoes are good and also sweet potatoes, bananas... ANYTHING MUSHY... make sweet potatoe fries...
