My son and I find we don't spend time together and have not much in common. We resenty found we both enjoy cooking and I am wanting to jump on the opportunity to spend time and get to know my son. I really need help finding a place where we can take cooking lessons together that is close to me and won't kill my pocket . Please help!!!

I don't know where you live, but I think Earth Fair and Whole Food grocery stores are pretty nation wide, and both offer cooking lessons. Also, Williams Sonoma offers classes sometimes--I love theirs, they are geared more for adults than kids, so I think your 11 year old might enjoy them more.

If you can't find a class, just go online and find a new recipe to try together--I think you'll have a lot of fun in the comfort of your home, plus, you will have more opportunity for dialog than you would in a class. Bonding activities like this one are wonderful ways to help kids relax and open up to you about unrelated things that might be bothering them at school or drama between their friends that you need to know about.

Check YouTube for lots of "How To" videos on things like the best way to sear a steak, or tips and tricks for perfect cakes and what-not.
