My husband & I separated around my daughters 2nd birthday. We were separated for about 8 months. During that time he dated another woman for 3 months. We reconciled in Feb. its been several months and my daughter is still saying her name. It hurts me every time she says it. I'm trying not to pay any attention to it. We are trying to get past that part of our lives but its hard to when she is always bringing it up. Her 3rd Birthday is next month. Is she ever going to forget that woman's name? Is she going to talk about her for years to come? Is there any way to get her to stop?? Thanks for your help

She's 2, almost 3. Don't react and/or casually/calmly change the subject.

I'm sure this is rough on you, but your daughter doesn't understand that nor should she. The less you react and change the subject, the faster she will move on.

Hi Cherish,

Hearing her name reminds me of one of the lowest points in my life when I almost lost my husband. It has been a huge challenge for us to overcome this separation and put it all in the past. I guess when I hear it....it mixes up feelings that I just want to go away. I don't let my daughter know it hurts me of course, she wouldn't understand. But in my head (when I hear about her) I replay all the horrible things that happen during that time frame when she came into our lives. i know i should be thankful its all in the past & move forward. Just wondering if my daughter will ever move forward & forget about all of that.

Thanks for your advice! I'm hoping eventually my daughter will move on from that subject & not bring it up anymore.
