TUBAL LIGATION & BREASTFEEDING

[deleted account] ( 2 moms have responded )

I am scheduled to have my tubes tied when my youngest is 6 wks old (1 month from now) and I was wondering if anyone else has had this done... did it have any affect on your supply? How long after surgery were you told you could nurse again? Any other input about the experience would be welcomed I'm sure I want it done I just want an idea of what to expect and I dont want it to interfere with breastfeeding.

You MUST tell them that you are breastfeeding. MUST! It makes a difference in the drugs they use to knock you out and the wrong ones can affect the baby. Make sure you tell EVERYBODY that comes in to talk to you and have you sign anything.
I nursed as soon as I was conscience and able to hold her which I did. I made sure that I was given the drugs that would still allow me to breastfeed after the surgery.
