Two homes!

Does anyone have kids who stay in two different home environments? I have a toddler who spends two days with his dad and two days with me. We live separately and are not married. His father loves him very much, however, as he's getting older, I feel that it might be disruptive for him to move from one environment to another all the time. Does anyone have suggestions or advice as to how to make it easier on the toddler? Also, he seems to have adapted to this routine quite well and I believe that having regular contact with both parents is very good for him. However, psychologically, I'm not sure how well he will deal with this situation, the older he gets.

I have been doing 50/50 shared care for 7 years. We have been doing a week about since we started. I agree that 2 days is far too disruptive for them.

Since my boys are now older we are looking at extending the time at each house to 4 weeks and every other weekend going to the other parent. Talking to our councilor, he has said a week about is too disruptive and that we should look at longer terms.

My youngest son was 1 when we started so it's not too long to go for a week. Both my boys are doing well in school and are well liked with a lot of friends. They are now 10.5 and 8.
