I have lost my insurance , as of June 30th! Was seen by my pcp up until then!
I have had another check up at my local health department, I am 20 weeks! And they will not do a unltrasound! I'm wondering how I know if my baby is ok? Heart, head, fluids and all the things they check during the BIG ultrasound??? They said its not mandatory? Is this correct?

Just remember, I believe it was some time in the 80's that they even started to do ultrasounds on pregnant women.

They can tell by your bellies measurements if the baby is growing.

I have been checked yes and obgyn says I am perfect, my uterus is growing perfectly and everything! But how are they to tell if baby is growing good!

That time frame for an ultrasound certainly checks growth etc...but it also checks the sex of your baby. IF you want to find out. I am surprised they will not do one to check on baby, but hopefully you are still going to your prenatal appointments. Those are very important. They check babies heart rate, your growth of the stomach, blood pressure, eventually check for gestational diabetes, and so much more.

I would think checking the chambers of the heart, and brain growth for defects would be mandatory?

It is not mandatory, but it is helpful. Many states (not sure if you are in the US or not) will NOT deny a pregnant mother, or mothers of newborns insurance. I would look into that.
