I'm not due until September, but I got all the clothes everything prepared and now I'm being told not to put my newborn in onesies and sleepers due to the umbilical cord stump. What is everyone's opinions and experiences on this?

I have worked in neonatal unit, and mostly all babies were dressed in onesies, except those undergoing specific medical treatments. Cord stump should not present a problem as long as it is kept clean and dry. It will fall off by a week or so. Personally, I prefer baby nightdress in the first month or so, as it makes changing quicker and easier.
