Hi. I have a 16 month old son whose weight is in the 2nd or 3rd percentile. He has always been small and up until a month ago he was a great eater. Now he refuses to eat anything. I was never worried about his low weight before but now that he is refusing to eat i am getting a bit concrned. I know it is common at this age for toddlers to be picky but if anyone has any tips or past successes to get their child to eat i would love input

Thank you for the input Maggie. Our son did appear to drink too much, so we tried to cut down on liquids. The problem is, I think he is hungry it seems as if he is "boycotting". With that said after a drawn out process of refusing to eat we give him a pediasure (recommended by the pediatrician) so he is getting nutrients and he will guzzle that down...

My daughter is 16 months also. I recently discovered that the reason she wasnt eating was because she was having to much milk intake. Does your LO drink alot of milk? This was our issue. If so instead of offering milk suggest a food. I realized this with my LO when we tranistioned her to an open cup recently. We stopped giving her a sippy of milk in the morning and for the first time she ate all her breakfast. Then it dawn on me. She was filling up on milk. Every morning we would give her a sippy of milk so when breakfast time came she wasnt hungry. Same for lunch and dinner. We offered food then milk second. This may not be your issue but it solved our daughters eating issue.
